Director of Security Engineering

Job Summary

Leading a high-leverage team of security engineers, the full-time remote Director of Security Engineering will build and manage the security engineering function across the code-to-cloud lifecycle, set strategic direction, and drive AI-first security initiatives while engaging with executives and customers on critical security matters.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage the security engineering team, overseeing the roadmap, standards, and budget
• Translate security strategy into operational plans and act as the final decision-maker for security-engineering standards and tooling
• Partner with product teams to provide hands-on guidance and enhance cloud defense and AI workload protection capabilities

Required qualifications

• 7+ years in security or software engineering, with 4+ years in a leadership role
• Demonstrated partnership experience with engineering teams and a genuine product-partnership instinct
• Experience utilizing AI and agentic tooling for security capabilities
• Technical expertise in cloud and Kubernetes security, infrastructure-as-code, and modern CI/CD practices
• Understanding of compliance as continuous assurance, particularly with ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and SOC 2 Type II
