Director of Software Engineering

Job Summary

Leading a critical part of a real-time fraud detection platform, the remote Director of Software Engineering will manage engineering strategy, develop teams, and deliver high-quality distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Set the engineering strategy and translate long-term goals into actionable technical plans
• Lead and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers to foster team ownership and growth
• Deliver complex distributed systems with a focus on speed, scalability, and reliability

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience with a focus on people leadership in software or platform environments
• Proven experience in scaling distributed systems, APIs, or microservices in production
• Strong technical expertise in cloud-native systems and modern engineering practices, particularly in AWS or GCP
• Demonstrated ability to improve execution through engineering metrics and process discipline
• Technical credibility and familiarity with AI capabilities in software development
