Director of Software Engineering
Job Summary
To support a large EdTech client, the remote Director of Software Engineering will lead technical strategy and architectural ownership for cloud-native platforms while actively engaging in system design and mentoring globally distributed engineering teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and drive the architecture and engineering strategy for scalable, cloud-native platforms
- Act as a hands-on technical leader across engineering and DevOps, ensuring system reliability and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments to translate architectural vision into executable delivery plans
Required qualifications:
- 12-15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles
- Strong expertise in languages such as Python and TypeScript, with experience in React and databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Deep experience with AWS cloud ecosystem, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures and event-driven systems
- Experience in EdTech, digital media, or SaaS platforms, with a focus on high-traffic customer-facing systems
