Director of State Tax Consulting
Job Summary
To support a growing State & Local Tax (SALT) practice, the full-time Director of State Tax Consulting will provide strategic consulting services to middle market and Fortune 500 clients, focusing on compliance and tax reduction strategies while working collaboratively with a talented team in a hybrid environment.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor, managing multi-disciplinary reviews to identify optimal tax filing options and reduce clients' tax burdens
- Research state tax issues, counsel clients on controversies, and prepare technical memoranda on state and local tax matters
- Assist in managing client engagement staffing and profitability, while fostering professional development within the team
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation or LLM preferred
- CPA and/or JD certification required
- 10+ years of experience in state and local tax
- 5+ years of supervisory experience, with a focus on mentoring and counseling associates
- Experience as a client-serving professional in a consulting firm is desired
