Job Summary
Supporting the modernization of Disability Income underwriting guidelines, the full-time remote Disability Underwriting Research Consultant will evaluate, redesign, and maintain evidence-based medical and non-medical underwriting practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Modernize and evolve Disability Income underwriting manuals to ensure guidelines are evidence-based and aligned with business goals
- Conduct research on medical conditions and industry practices to develop updated underwriting guidance
- Draft and refine medical underwriting guidelines, translating complex information into actionable direction for underwriters
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Individual Disability Income Insurance Underwriting or as an Occupational Health Nurse
- Progressive experience in DI underwriting, including medical risk assessment and underwriting operations
- Experience evaluating medical evidence and applying underwriting guidelines to assess insurability and risk
- Proven ability to conduct research and analysis of medical, claims, and underwriting data
- Individual Disability Income underwriting approval authority of at least $15,000
