Job Summary
To support the Jahez Project, the remote Disaster Risk Reduction Consultant will design and implement capacity development initiatives for Municipal DRR Units in Jordan, focusing on localized disaster risk management and early warning systems while collaborating with government and community stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Develop an inception report outlining the approach and methodology for capacity development of Municipal DRR Units
- Conduct a capacity needs assessment to identify skills gaps and operational needs of DRR Units
- Create and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum and practical tools to enhance the effectiveness of municipal disaster risk management
Required qualifications
- Advanced degree in Disaster Risk Reduction, climate change, environmental engineering, or a related field
- 7-10 years of experience in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation programming
- Proven experience in developing needs assessments and capacity-building tools
- Experience with DRR contingency plans and operational plans for disaster risk management
- Familiarity with local governance systems and early warning systems
