Job Summary
To support insurance authorization processes, the full-time Documentation Specialist will secure, review, and validate medical documentation while maintaining communication with healthcare providers and clients in a professional office or HIPAA-compliant home office environment.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinates with medical providers to gather necessary documentation, adhering to payer guidelines and timelines
- Acts as a liaison by maintaining contact with referral sources and clients to resolve missing or incomplete records
- Conducts reviews of medical files to ensure policy compliance and validates information for electronic medical records
Required qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, Complex Rehab Technology, Medical Billing, or Funding preferred
- Knowledge of medical coding principles, including ICD-10, HCPCS, Modifiers, and NCCI edits
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
