Editor for Weekly Publications

Job Summary

Overseeing the production of six Iowa weekly newspapers and the Farm Forum publication, the remote Weeklies and Special Projects Editor will plan, edit, and ensure the quality of content while collaborating with the Des Moines newsroom on major coverage initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, edit, and produce content for weekly Iowa newspapers and the Farm Forum
• Provide editing support for major coverage initiatives, including the Iowa State Fair and elections
• Maintain consistent quality and performance across all publications

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong news judgment and editing skills
• Experience in planning, curating, and packaging content
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools and audience-focused journalism
• Experience in local journalism or editing community/agricultural newspapers is preferred
