Job Summary
To support healthcare organizations, the full-time or part-time Emergency Department Coder will accurately abstract and code data into electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various accounts following designated workflows
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation teams to clarify clinical information and resolve coding issues
Required qualifications:
- Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience, with preference for Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facility experience
- Experience with LYNX and Epic/3M systems
- Proficiency in ED HB and PB coding, along with I&I experience
- Strong ability to follow established workflows and client-specific guidelines
