Job Summary
To support healthcare operations, the part-time Emergency Department Coder will accurately abstract and enter data into electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various accounts as per designated workflow
- Abstracts and enters coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Queries physicians to clarify clinical information and communicates documentation improvement opportunities
Required qualifications
- Must possess an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Experience with I&I coding is required
- Level 1 Trauma experience is necessary
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience is required
