Emergency Department Coder

Job Summary

To support healthcare organizations, the part-time PRN Emergency Department Coder will accurately abstract and code data into electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to Emergency Department accounts following designated workflows
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
• Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation staff to clarify clinical information and resolve coding issues

Required qualifications:

• Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
• Minimum of 2 years' coding experience, including both Profee and Facility coding
• Experience with Injections & Infusions coding
• Familiarity with Alterra and 3M or Lynx EMR systems
• Experience with both Profee and Facility leveling
