Job Summary
To support healthcare facilities, the part-time Emergency Department Coder will accurately abstract and code patient data into electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote work environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various accounts following designated workflows
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation teams to clarify coding issues and improve documentation
Required qualifications:
- Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience, with preference for Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facility experience
