Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Leading a distributed team, the full-time Engineering Manager will oversee the development of AP's platform for consumer-facing products, focusing on building editorial products, backend services, and APIs while ensuring high-performance delivery in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Architect scalable solutions for high-traffic consumer environments and manage an agile team of platform engineers
• Design, implement, and maintain APIs, services, and integrations that support consumer products and editorial workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure platform capabilities align with product goals and meet security and compliance requirements

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in backend or platform systems, with technical leadership or engineering management experience
• Hands-on experience developing and extending CMS platforms; familiarity with Brightspot is a plus
• Experience designing and operating API-driven systems, with knowledge of GraphQL and contract/versioning discipline
• Strong experience optimizing backend performance in high-traffic environments and diagnosing production issues
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
