Engineering Manager
Job Summary
Hands-on and detail-oriented, the full-time remote Engineering Manager will lead an engineering team in designing, architecting, and building backend services using Python, while managing people and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Own the full people-management cycle, including performance reviews and career growth, while running engineering rituals like planning and code reviews
- Stay hands-on by writing code, reviewing pull requests, and leading backend design using Python and related technologies
- Manage the technical roadmap and delivery, setting SLIs/SLOs, and driving observability and postmortems to ensure system reliability
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years in a formal people management role
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and backend API design, preferably with FastAPI
- Strong experience in database design and query optimization
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including containers and monitoring
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance delivery processes
