Engineering Manager, Backend Platforms

Job Summary

To lead and enhance the Backend Platforms team, the full-time remote Engineering Manager, Backend Platforms will manage senior engineers, shape technical strategy, and drive improvements in platform reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of senior software engineers, developing leaders and shaping the organization as it scales
• Own team strategy and execution, empowering senior ICs to define technical direction while remaining technically engaged
• Shape the Backend Platforms roadmap, balancing investments in new capabilities and addressing platform-level tech debt

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience in platform or infrastructure engineering, with 7+ years managing engineering teams
• Proven track record of building and operating backend platforms or runtime services used by engineering teams
• Strong technical grounding in backend systems at scale, including experience with Python and Elixir
• Demonstrated ability to guide senior ICs through complex architectural decisions and platform migrations
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills to influence technical direction across teams and at the executive level
