Engineering Manager, Consumer Platform

Job Summary

Leading a distributed team of engineers, the full-time Engineering Manager, Consumer Platform will manage the development and delivery of consumer-facing products, including web and mobile applications, while working in a hybrid or remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a distributed engineering team, ensuring effective collaboration across multiple time zones
• Oversee the development of headless web applications and native mobile apps, while extending the AP News CMS and backend services
• Drive performance optimization across the tech stack, coordinating web and app releases and incident response efforts

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in building consumer-facing web and mobile applications, including technical leadership roles
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with experience in server-side languages and GraphQL API design
• Hands-on experience with AI development tools and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience managing distributed teams and external vendors across time zones
• Bachelor's or Master's in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
