Engineering Manager, Machine Learning

Job Summary

Leading a team of platform engineers, the full-time remote Engineering Manager, Machine Learning will define and execute the roadmap for ML training and serving, ensuring the platform supports Affirm's ML priorities while balancing operational health and developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior ICs and engineering leadership to define and execute the roadmap for ML training and serving, including model training and deployment workflows
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of platform engineers while engaging in technical decisions and execution
• Drive delivery and operational health of the team's infrastructure, focusing on reliability, performance, and cost management

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software and/or machine learning engineering, with at least 2 years in a management role
• Strong experience in building and operating production ML or distributed systems infrastructure
• Solid understanding of ML data needs, including datasets, data quality, and evaluation
• Familiarity with modern ML workloads, such as deep learning and transformer architectures
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
