Engineering Manager, Search Platform

Job Summary

Leading a team of engineers, the full-time remote Engineering Manager, Search Platform will oversee the development and technical quality of the search engine, indexing pipeline, and availability services, while guiding architectural decisions and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery and technical quality across query serving, indexing, and APIs
• Set technical direction for the search stack, including architecture and ranking strategy
• Coach and develop engineers, ensuring high performance and effective work prioritization

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership in backend or platform environments
• Proven engineering management experience with a focus on hiring and developing talent
• Deep technical knowledge in search systems such as Elasticsearch or Solr
• Strong backend experience in distributed, event-driven systems; Go experience preferred
• Expertise in indexing pipelines and maintaining result accuracy and freshness
