Entry-Level Geospatial Technician

Job Summary

Supporting the Census Bureau in Suitland, MD, the part-time Entry-Level Geospatial Technician will focus on maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the Census Master Address File/TIGER Database, utilizing GIS software for data enhancement and maintenance in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers using custom GIS software
• Make revisions and edits to GIS drawings and files according to supervisor instructions
• Maintain live spatial data in a secured environment while adhering to a daily production schedule

Required qualifications

• US Citizenship and current residency in the DC/MD/VA area
• Certificate in Cartography or GIS, or an Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Geography or GIS (other relevant degrees may be considered)
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Imagery, and understanding of Databases
• Internship experience or coursework with ArcGIS and related software
• Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography, surveying, and drafting
