Entry Level GIS Specialist

Job Summary

Launching a career in geospatial science, the full-time Entry Level GIS Specialist will apply knowledge of geospatial and cartographic concepts while supporting the development of the National Map in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development of the Seamless 1 Meter Digital Elevation Model for the USGS
• Utilize the ArcGIS software suite to perform hands-on geospatial and cartographic work
• Collaborate with technical staff to enhance the National Map through effective communication and teamwork

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 0-2 years of relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge of GIS and cartographic concepts, including geospatial data and spatial databases
• Familiarity with LiDAR, global mapper, or ArcGIS Pro is a plus
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while producing quality deliverables
• Analytical skills with the ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
