Job Summary
To support the Census Bureau, six Entry-Level GIS Technicians will work remotely while residing in the DC/MD/VA area, focusing on maintaining and enhancing the accuracy of the Census Master Address File and TIGER Database using ESRI and custom GIS software.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate, edit, and check various GIS data layers, including street centerlines and hydrography, using custom map production tools
- Modify and create GIS drawings and files according to supervisor instructions, ensuring accurate revisions and edits
- Maintain daily production schedules while working with customized data automation tools and procedures
Required qualifications
- US Citizenship and current residency in the DC/MD/VA area
- Certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and coursework involving GIS projects or labs
- Knowledge of civil engineering, cartography, surveying, and drafting
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and share GIS knowledge with team members
