Envoy Technical Lead

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Envoy Technical Lead, this remote position will design and implement core Envoy extensions and filters, focusing on high-performance proxy features for mission-critical workloads while collaborating with open-source communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance Envoy extensions and filters in C++ for production-grade proxy features
• Lead the development lifecycle for core data plane functionality, guiding system architecture and debugging complex networking behavior
• Engage with customers to translate networking and security needs into scalable Envoy-based solutions while driving upstream contributions to the open-source community

Required qualifications

• Deep expertise in Envoy proxy internals, including filters, listener/cluster config, and xDS APIs
• Strong C++ development skills, particularly in systems or networking contexts
• Experience building distributed systems and service meshes, ideally with Istio or similar platforms
• Hands-on experience operating cloud-native infrastructure at scale, especially with Kubernetes and observability tools
• Track record of upstream contributions and comfort in open-source collaboration environments
