Job Summary

Leading Shopify's EU Government Affairs work, the full-time salaried EU Public Affairs Director will develop and execute public policy strategies, build influential relationships in Brussels, and advocate for legislative outcomes that support entrepreneurship and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Shopify's EU government affairs and public policy strategy, ensuring alignment with legislative priorities
• Serve as Shopify's primary representative in Brussels, engaging with key EU institutions and stakeholders
• Coordinate advocacy efforts across priority policy areas, translating EU-level initiatives into actionable national outreach

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy, with expertise in tech policy or ecommerce
• Deep understanding of EU institutions and established networks within the European Commission and Parliament
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact policy and advocacy outcomes
• Strong data literacy and ability to leverage research for advocacy efforts
• Experience building relationships and coalitions across government, industry, and civil society
