FAA Licensed Flight Test Engineer

Job Summary

Leading a talented team, the hybrid Head of Flight Test Engineering will manage and mentor Flight Test Engineers in Palo Alto, CA, while developing flight test evaluation strategies, executing rigorous test programs, and translating flight test observations into actionable insights that drive regulatory approvals and business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow the Flight Test Engineering team, fostering a high-performing technical culture and strong cross-functional alignment
• Develop flight test evaluation strategies and plans for the Wing Delivery System, ensuring comprehensive system validation and technology development
• Drive end-to-end flight test execution, including risk assessments and advanced flight data evaluation, to support regulatory submissions

Required qualifications

• 15+ years in flight test engineering with experience in complex or autonomous system development
• 3+ years of hands-on experience flight testing Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (sUAS), eVTOL, or autonomous aircraft
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate
• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership or direct people management of flight test and evaluation teams
