Job Summary
Supporting federal nuclear programs, the part-time Facility Safety Engineer will provide technical support for Safety Basis requirements, develop and maintain safety documentation, and serve as a key interface among various teams to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to ensure Safety Basis requirements are understood, implemented, and maintained for DOE Hazard Category 2 and 3 nuclear facilities
- Develop, maintain, and review Safety Basis documentation, including Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs)
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and project teams to ensure compliance with applicable DOE Orders and Safety Basis requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited program in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry
- Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in DOE nuclear safety or facility safety
- Experience in developing and maintaining Safety Basis documentation and understanding associated facility safety requirements
- Working knowledge of 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and applicable DOE nuclear safety requirements
- Active DOE Q clearance is required
