Farm Coordinator

Job Summary

Enthusiastic individuals with strong experience in garden-based education will find a full-time opportunity as a Farm Coordinator, responsible for maintaining the Governors Island Teaching Garden and delivering educational programming while working both onsite and at various GrowNYC locations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily farm-related tasks including planting, pruning, and general maintenance while leading crop planning and tracking farm operations
• Develop and implement creative lesson plans for K-12 students and lead hands-on garden-based lessons for diverse groups
• Coordinate volunteer activities and manage relationships with external partners sharing garden space

Required qualifications

• Experience in small farm production, preferably at an organic or chemical-free vegetable farm
• Proven experience teaching in farm, garden, or non-formal education settings
• Familiarity with sustainable agriculture and environmental education
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers, with a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
