Fiber Assembly Process Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Fiber Assembly Process Engineer, the successful candidate will develop advanced assembly instrumentation for high-performance fiber splicing, study fiber reliability at datacenter scale, and collaborate with industrial partners on fiber processing equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Study and root-cause sources of fiber splice loss and loss variability
- Develop and deploy advanced fiber processing equipment in partnership with industrial collaborators
- Utilize optical simulation tools to model fiber-fiber interfaces and assess key fiber characteristics for optical applications
Required qualifications
- MSc or PhD in photonics, optics, physics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of experience in fiber optics, optical system development, and assembly
- Strong understanding of optical fibers, fiber splicing, and measurement equipment
- Proficiency in Python and JMP
- Experience with mechanical and/or optical instrumentation automation and control
