Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support patient financial needs, the full-time Financial Advocate will calculate personalized cost estimates, communicate patient liabilities, and assist uninsured patients with financial assistance applications in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate and provide patients with estimates of their financial responsibility based on insurance coverage
• Request upfront payments and establish payment arrangements for self-pay amounts
• Interview uninsured patients to assess financial needs and coordinate assistance programs

Required qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED/HSED
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, health care, or customer service
• Basic knowledge of medical coding and insurance operations
• Understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA regulations
• Ability to document patient interactions clearly and accurately
