Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support patient financial planning, the full-time remote Financial Advocate will calculate personalized financial estimates, communicate patient liabilities, and assist uninsured patients in accessing financial assistance programs.

Key responsibilities

• Calculates and provides personalized financial estimates for patients based on their insurance coverage
• Educates patients on their financial responsibilities, including deductibles, coinsurance, and payment arrangements
• Assesses uninsured patients for financial assistance eligibility and coordinates the completion of necessary applications

Required qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent (GED/HSED)
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
• Basic knowledge of medical coding and insurance billing processes
• Understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA regulations as they relate to patient interactions
• Ability to document patient interactions clearly using scripted notes and written communication
