Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support patient financial counseling, the full-time Financial Advocate will calculate personalized financial estimates, communicate patient liabilities, and assist uninsured patients with funding applications while working remotely Monday through Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Calculates and provides patients with estimates of their financial responsibilities based on insurance coverage
• Educates patients on financial concepts such as deductibles and copayments, and requests upfront payments for services
• Interviews uninsured patients to assess financial needs and coordinates applications for assistance programs

Required qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent (GED/HSED)
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
• Basic knowledge of medical coding and insurance billing processes
• Understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA regulations
• Ability to articulate financial assistance policies and processes to patients and providers
