Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Financial Advocate will educate patients on their financial responsibilities, provide personalized cost estimates based on insurance coverage, and assist uninsured patients in applying for financial assistance, all while working remotely from Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Calculates and communicates patients' financial responsibilities, including estimates and payment arrangements
• Interviews uninsured patients to assess financial needs and coordinates assistance programs
• Stays current on regulations regarding government funding and collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure patient financial support

Required qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent (GED/HSED)
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
• Basic medical coding knowledge and understanding of insurance billing and denials
• Ability to articulate HIPAA and EMTALA regulations in patient interactions
• Solid knowledge of insurance benefits and coverage options
