Job Summary
To support patient financial planning, the full-time Financial Advocate will calculate personalized financial estimates, communicate patient liabilities, and assist uninsured patients with financial assistance applications, primarily working in a hybrid remote environment with occasional onsite meetings in the Greater Charlotte or Wake Forest area.
Key responsibilities
- Calculates and provides personalized financial estimates based on insurance coverage prior to service
- Educates patients on their financial responsibilities, including deductibles and payment arrangements
- Assists uninsured patients in identifying financial assistance programs and completing necessary applications
Required qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED/HSED)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
- Basic knowledge of medical coding and insurance billing processes
- Understanding of HIPAA and EMTALA regulations as they relate to patient interactions
- Ability to articulate insurance operations related to denials and appeals processes
