Financial Counseling Representative

Job Summary

To support financial operations, the full-time remote Financial Counseling Representative will perform complex pre-service financial counseling, including creating estimates, securing payments, and addressing billing inquiries for patients and their representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Create hospital and physician estimates and review eligibility and benefits
• Contact patients pre-service to provide benefit education and secure payment expectations
• Monitor and track follow-up with Medicaid and financial assistance approvals, addressing billing questions and patient inquiries

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of experience in hospital or physician insurance-related activities
• Advanced knowledge of insurance billing, collections, and terminology
• Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes
• Familiarity with UB-04, HCFA-1500 forms, and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation
