Financial Counselor

Job Summary

Financial Counselor provides full-time financial counseling to assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities and available resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer billing questions and review insurance coverage and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
• Assist patients in setting up payment arrangements and applying for payment assistance programs
• Calculate cost estimates for medical procedures and advise on prepayments for services not covered by insurance

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education preferred
• Two years of experience in healthcare service or health insurance preferred
• Knowledge of third-party payers and basic bookkeeping or accounting principles
• Understanding of insurance products and ability to read EOBs accurately
• Computer skills sufficient to operate online systems and complex software
