Firewall Engineer

Job Summary

To support enterprise firewall infrastructure, the remote contract Firewall Engineer will design, administer, and optimize Palo Alto Networks firewalls while ensuring compliance and security across critical systems.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewall configurations and security policies
• Analyze firewall traffic and develop documentation for application communication flows and security controls
• Lead initiatives to evolve firewall policies toward a Zero Trust security model in regulated environments

Required qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security policy design
• Expertise in NAT, security zones, GlobalProtect VPN, and site-to-site VPN configuration
• Experience in regulated, compliance-driven environments and enterprise network operations
• Strong technical documentation skills for configurations and network architecture
• Ability to collaborate across cybersecurity, OT, and network engineering teams
