Job Summary
To support quality assurance in coding practices, the full-time Florida Licensed Coding Auditor will perform quality reviews on coded records, provide education to coding staff, and assist with appeals for DRG denials, all while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct quality reviews on coded records to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
- Provide continuing education and support to coding staff regarding coding and reimbursement changes
- Assist in writing appeals for DRG denials, referencing coding guidelines to defend DRG assignments
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of inpatient or outpatient coding or auditing experience
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
- Expansive knowledge of Medicare DRGs, coding guidelines, and reimbursement systems
- Strong understanding of inpatient coding and proficiency with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
- Technical/Vocational education in a related field preferred
