Florida Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support accurate coding practices, the full-time Florida Licensed Coding Specialist will remotely code Outpatient Surgery and Observation records using ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while collaborating with the team to meet departmental and accounts receivable goals.

Key responsibilities:

• Accurately code outpatient surgery and observation records for disease and procedure classification
• Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations set by regulatory agencies
• Abstract data elements from medical records to support departmental objectives

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent with relevant training and experience
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician certification
• Required coding certificate with a mandate to obtain CCS or RHIT certification within two years if not certified upon hire
• Knowledge of encoder systems and outpatient payment systems (OPPS, APCs, ASC)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant coding experience
