Florida Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the coding needs of a healthcare system, the full-time Florida Licensed Coding Specialist will analyze medical records, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, and maintain a high coding accuracy rate in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret medical records to assign correct codes according to coding guidelines
• Abstract necessary information from medical records to identify diagnoses and related conditions
• Communicate with medical staff to clarify documentation for accurate code assignment

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and education
• Minimum of three years of coding experience in acute care, home health, or ancillary settings
• Successful completion of a credentialed coding certificate program with relevant coding credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or HCS-D)
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding systems, and clinical documentation improvement
• Familiarity with encoder technology and electronic medical records (EMR)
