Job Summary
To support the coding needs of a healthcare system, the full-time Florida Licensed Coding Specialist will analyze medical records, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, and maintain a high coding accuracy rate in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret medical records to assign correct codes according to coding guidelines
- Abstract necessary information from medical records to identify diagnoses and related conditions
- Communicate with medical staff to clarify documentation for accurate code assignment
Required qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and education
- Minimum of three years of coding experience in acute care, home health, or ancillary settings
- Successful completion of a credentialed coding certificate program with relevant coding credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or HCS-D)
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding systems, and clinical documentation improvement
- Familiarity with encoder technology and electronic medical records (EMR)
