Florida Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the coding needs of a healthcare organization, the full-time Florida Licensed Coding Specialist will analyze medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret medical record documentation to assign correct diagnosis and procedure codes
• Abstract necessary information from medical records to identify diagnoses and related conditions
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and communicate with medical staff for documentation clarification

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and education
• Minimum of three years of coding experience in acute care, home health, or physician practices
• Successful completion of a credentialed coding certificate program with relevant credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or HCS-D)
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding systems, and clinical documentation improvement
• Familiarity with encoder technology and electronic medical record systems
