Florida Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Experienced in acute care inpatient coding, the full-time Florida Licensed Inpatient Coder will review and code medical and surgical cases across multiple specialties, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and maintaining a quality rating of at least 95% while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Abstract, code, and sequence clinical information from various medical records, ensuring accurate diagnosis and procedure coding
• Utilize technical coding principles and reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate codes while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards
• Track productivity and maintain a minimum of 1.5 charts per hour while adhering to HIPAA and company policies

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a large acute care facility (at least 700 beds)
• Certification as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS is mandatory
• Experience with Cerner and a CAC, preferably Optum eCAC
• Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program
• Ability to work during regular business hours for training and maintain productivity expectations thereafter
