Job Summary
To support accurate inpatient coding practices, the full-time Florida Licensed Inpatient Surgical Coder will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for surgical records, ensure compliance with coding guidelines, and collaborate with clinical teams, all while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical and procedure-based records
- Ensure accurate DRG assignment and validate procedural coding and clinical alignment
- Maintain productivity standards and apply coding guidelines to ensure compliance
Required qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 4+ years of acute care hospital coding experience or completion of AdventHealth inpatient surgical coding training
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and inpatient reimbursement processes
- Ability to interpret clinical documentation and identify coding risks
