Florida Licensed Inpatient Surgical Coder

Job Summary

To support the healthcare team, the full-time Florida Licensed Inpatient Surgical Coder will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical records, ensure accurate DRG assignments, and maintain compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical and procedure-based records
• Review documentation to validate coding accuracy and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with clinical teams to improve coding practices

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of acute care hospital coding experience, including complex surgeries
• Completion of the AdventHealth inpatient surgical coding training program may substitute for experience
• Certification as a CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or CPC
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and inpatient reimbursement processes
