Florida Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support healthcare operations, the full-time Florida Licensed Medical Coder will review medical records, assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with billing standards while working remotely within Florida.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to assign codes and ensure accurate billing and compliance
• Communicates with insurance companies and collaborates with various departments to resolve coding errors and disputes
• Conducts audits and coding reviews to maintain coding accuracy and adheres to Official Coding Guidelines

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from AHIMA
• One year of hospital-based outpatient coding experience or equivalent experience in physician billing
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Proficient in using electronic medical record systems and coding classification systems
