Job Summary
To ensure efficient operations within the surgical pathology suite, the full-time Florida Licensed Pathologist Assistant will manage personnel, oversee specimen handling and processing, and support quality control and accreditation efforts in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise accessioners, lab aides, and technicians in the surgical pathology suite and autopsy room
- Perform macroscopic descriptions and dissections of surgical specimens, providing critical information for cancer staging
- Ensure proper specimen collection, accessioning, and handling while assisting clinicians with specimen-related inquiries
Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
- NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
- Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
- Completion of a 3-year supervised internship
- Five years of experience in anatomic pathology under a licensed, Board Certified or Board Eligible Anatomic Pathologist
