Forward Deployed Engineer

Job Summary

Joining the post-sales team, the full-time remote Forward Deployed Engineer will manage customer onboarding, integration of OpenRouter into production systems, and optimization of inference architectures to drive adoption and success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical onboarding for new customers and define success plans in collaboration with Customer Success Managers
• Analyze customer AI use cases and recommend strategies for model selection, routing, and cost optimization
• Build strong technical relationships with customer developers and act as a trusted advisor throughout the implementation process

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a technical customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer or Solutions Engineer
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to read, write, and debug production-quality code
• Experience with APIs, SDKs, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML infrastructure
• Familiarity with LLMs, inference, and production AI application patterns
• Proven ability to work directly with developers and engineering leaders to diagnose problems and design solutions
