Forward Deployed Engineer

Job Summary

As Render's first Forward Deployed Engineer, the full-time position will engage closely with strategic customers, providing technical partnership and support for architecture reviews, migration planning, and hands-on delivery, either remotely or at the SF office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated technical partnership to top accounts, focusing on architecture reviews and migration planning
• Lead onboarding intensives for high-growth startups, ensuring successful integration onto the platform
• Manage the database aspects of customer engagements, including performance tuning and complex data migrations

Required qualifications

• 8+ years in a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to write production-quality code
• Deep experience with cloud infrastructure and database management, particularly Postgres
• Fluency in AI tools and understanding of LLM application architectures
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders, from startup founders to enterprise teams
