Working remotely on a freelance basis, the Newsletter Writer will research, write, and shape a regular email newsletter for fern, providing exclusive reporting and insights that enhance the audience's understanding of the content while building a strong community around the brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, and edit a regular email newsletter aligned with fern's editorial focus
• Produce exclusive reporting and behind-the-scenes pieces that complement fern's YouTube content
• Translate complex topics into accessible, compelling written storytelling, optimizing for engagement

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in journalism, documentary, or factual storytelling
• Strong understanding of subject-line writing and reader-retention strategies for email
• Ability to simplify complex topics while maintaining accuracy
• Strong research skills, including fact-checking and sourcing
• Experience writing high-performing content, ideally newsletters or longform digital journalism
