Freelance Senior Content Strategist

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract basis, the Freelance Senior Content Strategist will shape the creative and commercial direction of selected titles within a premium publishing program by collaborating with authors and project teams to ensure compelling and market-aware manuscripts.

Key responsibilities

• Researching authors and their proposed subjects, along with the wider publishing category, prior to project kickoff
• Leading Book Development Strategy Sessions with authors, writers, and project managers to define the book's direction
• Approving a clear Book Strategy Blueprint that establishes the editorial foundation for each project

Required qualifications

• Proven experience in content strategy or editorial roles within the publishing industry
• Strong understanding of market trends and audience engagement in publishing
• Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative sessions and articulate strategic visions
• Experience working with authors, ghostwriters, and editorial teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
