Job Summary

Working remotely on a freelance basis, the Freelance Pop & Internet Culture Social Editor will manage social media content for Complex, focusing on pop culture across various platforms, while executing community engagement and content creation during weekdays from 12pm to 6pm EST.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the Complex Pop Culture voice across social media platforms, ensuring audience-sensitive content is published
• Create and curate original content, focusing on streaming and creator culture, while managing community interactions
• Track social media best practices and collaborate with internal teams to support social goals and engagement strategies

Required qualifications

• 2-3 years of social media and editorial experience with a publisher or brand
• Extensive knowledge of internet and pop culture, particularly in film/TV, anime, and video games
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & Premiere) and mobile editing software like CapCut
• Strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok
• Proven ability to drive audience engagement and action on social media
