Frontend Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a skilled full-time Frontend Engineer to work remotely, who will own the technical direction of Tailscale's web console, build frontend infrastructure for multiple products, and focus on identity-adjacent systems like authentication and session management.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the frontend architecture for the next-generation console, ensuring maintainability and coherence
• Design and maintain authentication and session infrastructure, including security measures and deployment strategies
• Build a frontend serving platform that supports a unified development workflow across Tailscale products

Required Qualifications

• Deep experience building and operating production React applications at scale
• Strong understanding of web platform fundamentals, including HTTP, browser security, and authentication flows
• Experience in building internal platforms or shared libraries to enable product teams
• Proven ability to drive a unified console vision across different frontend codebases
• Experience designing scalable frontend testing strategies that enhance confidence for product engineers
